It's nice to be blogging again.
For those of you who are here, thank you. Thank you for being here to support me and walk with me as I start this adventure and this new phase of my life.
But first, I guess I have to graduate. T - 47 days. I can do it.
Perhaps you are wondering why I chose the title, "the travel bug." Well, it is pretty self explanatory. Except that it does have a double meaning. Yes, I have "caught the travel bug" - I am obsessed with traveling and being anywhere but "my current residence."
But also, my parents coined me "katie cat love bug" when I was a little girl. They say I was cuddly and warm blooded and that being around people and feeling their warmth and presence always seemed to make me happy. However, that nickname was a bit embarrassing to me throughout my middle school years. It didn't really sound right for my parents to always be saying "hey katie cat love bug, have you done your homework?" So to simplify things they just started calling me "bug." And wala, here I am today.
Update on pre-departure travel:
-I have purchased my plane ticket to Paraguay. Man those gas prices are givin' no mercy!
-Next month, my friend Kristin (who will also be traveling down to Paraguay with me) and I will be traveling down to Seattle to meet Juan Carlos, the pastor of the church and the head of the school where we will be working in Paraguay! We are SO excited that he will be visiting the U.S. next month and that we are able to sit down with him, get to know him and really figure out some more details of the trip!
-We will soon be mailing in our passports in order to obtain our Visa's for Paraguay. Pray those get cleared ok! :)
-I am still working on my Spanish. I have days where I feel like I could speak the whole language without flaw. But there are definitely days where I feel like I have the speaking skill of a 1 year old. Oh the joy of learning a foreign language.
If any of you have any questions, comments or thoughts which you would like to ask me, please please ask me! Or share anything! I could use advice, encouragement, laughter, etc. as I suck up these last 5 weeks of college and mentally prepare for the "real world!" ;)
Friends and family, thank you so much for visiting my blog! By doing this, you are already supporting me in so many ways! Feel free to write comments about whatever you want! I LOVE hearing from people!
I cannot wait for this journey to begin so that I can see the awesome ways God will work in and through me in Paraguay!
Departure date: Thursday, September 1 at 10:50 p.m. out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
T - 129 days until departure.
:)
